Vostok 5 and 6 were piloted respectively by Valery Bykovsky and Valentina Tereshkova.
The former set the still-current record for the longest solo space flight; the latter was the first woman in space.
The Vostok programme of single-crewed missions ended with Tereshkova's flight, to be followed in 1964 by the Voskhod programme. The first of these was the first multi-crewed space flight, the second included the first ever 'space walk'. However, subsequent missions, which were to have been of extended duration, were cancelled.
The Soyuz programme, which followed in 1967, is still ongoing.
As a child in the 1960s, I followed the details of the various Russian and American flights diligently; and it was a matter of some pride to know the names of the crews, their flight histories, and as much minutiae as one could glean from the news.
