the elder trees

This is the Hasselblad version of a previous image I've posted, and I have to admit that for once I prefer the digital image. I think the compression that the digital image gives helps to emphasize this avenue of trees, and the colors and light were very difficult to balance in the film version. Still, after a long time spend editing and hemming and hawing, I've decided to post this image as well.

These, by the way, are the Dark Hedges, a row of 300-year-old beech trees found in Northern Ireland. Sometimes in my dreams I am still there, feeling the wind and rain and light.

i don't think i've seen (or don't recall) the digital one, but i think this is pretty darn incredible photo of what looks like an incredible place!

Wow... a row of trees like this would definitely have me reaching for my camera!!

I only wish that I had a Hasselblad that I could point at them! :)

This is a fantastic capture. The way the trees bend over the road forming a covered bridge of sorts is really cool. I could see how one could spend a few hours exploring the area with a camera and not even realize time had passed.

    Stunning image.

I love taking photos here - shame about the fence. Apparently it is to be moved to behind the trees - the sooner the better.

If I'm honest I much prefer this version. It seems much more mythical.
