bloomed and gone

I stood still, vision blurring, and in that moment, I heard my heart break. It was a small, clean sound, like the snapping of a flower's stem. ~Diana Gabaldon, "Dragonfly in Amber"

Up at 4 or 5 am, the recollection of a dream perched just at the edge of my memory, perusing photos and quotes and waiting for a restless mind to settle long enough, again, to sleep. I can control the daytime thoughts, but what does one do when the subconscious decides to dream about things that have been long laid to rest? Time slips away when I close my eyes, and I might as well be ten years old again, caught up in a myriad of battle dreams. They are intriguing, to say the least.

This was taken last summer on Neahkahnie Mountain, with a Hasselblad 500 C/M.
