a slow return to the sea

The Wreck of the Peter Iredale at Fort Stevens leans persistently into the ocean, as if wanting to return. I am sure that it will, in small pieces, over time.

Taken at sunset with my Zero Image 2000 pinhole. I loved the red-orange glow along the side of the wreck and the deep blues that were coming into play all around it.

Where were you standing, Danielle? By the angle of the ship, it looks like you were in the water... was this taken recently (winter)?

Nice pulled back view of the wreck, something the pinhole seems to do well.

@diegodossantos I was indeed in the water. Well, in the wet sand. I had waited for a wave to come in and go back out, and then I barely managed this exposure before the next wave came racing up and I had to retreat again.

The color and light are great, but what is amazing to me is the surface texture of the ocean - I would think a long exposure would wipe out any waves (even though they look like ripples here).

Really a calming image. The blues and those soft ripples...

    Gorgeous reflections and light!

aubujazz I think that's because it's actually the surface of the wet sand, after the last wave went out.

Thanks for the info! Kodak 160VC has little to no reciprocity failure from my experience, certainly not for short exposure times of up to 2 minutes. Anyway, I just love looking at this.
