Dedicating the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial, Frame 6

    Newer Older

After all the speeches the memorial was declared open! Of course the first official visitors to the storywall were from the families who also walked that path on the day in WW2 when they were forced to leave Bainbridge Island to go to internment camps. This time as they walked lots of friends and neighbors lined the way and applauded. I don't know if that was a planned part of the ceremony or if it just happened spontaneously, but either way it was a pretty cool moment.
