Metropolitan Winnipeg Transportation Study Area and Traffic Zone Boundaries (1966)

Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg Streets and Transit Division Streets and Traffic Dept. Metropolitan Winnipeg Transportation Study Area and Traffic Zone Boundaries [map]. [1:58,656]. In: Transportation Planning Branch Streets and Traffic Department. Base Conditions Winnipeg Area Transportation Study, Volume One. [Winnipeg]: 1966, plate 5.

For the purposes of analysis, the study area has been broken down into 124 individual traffic zones. The boundaries of each zone have been selected to coincide with with the wards and/or polling divisions of the city or municipality in which each is contained. This method of defining traffic zone boundaries, made possible the use of valuable statistics gathered on a ward and polling division basis by the various cities, towns and municipalities. Nine of the 124 individual traffic zones comprise what has been termed the Downtown Study Area. This area is bounded on the south by the Assiniboine River, on the east by the Red River, on the north by the Canadian Pacific Railroad main line and on the west by such streets as Isabel, Young and Spence.
