Bronze Age Grave

This is a boat shaped grave from the late bronze age (1100 - 400 BC) on the island Gotland in Sweden. 350 of these graves in different conditions have been identified on Gotland. Their length varies from 6 to 46 meters.

This particular grave, which is located near Gannarve, is 29 meters long and 6 meters wide.

The urn, which was sometimes shaped like a house, was normally placed in or beside the boeat shape.

Many people call these graves "viking graves" because the vikings lived on Gotland. But looking at the historical facts, the viking age starts around the year 500, so over 1000 years after these graves were created.
