Horsemoor Signal Box near March
A shot taken in the late 1980s of the signal box and accompanying buildings at the crossing at Horsemoor, south-east of March.
The signal box has long since been removed, to be replaced by a faceless grey lineside cabinet, but was probably a cosy refuge on this bitterly cold and wet day; a small trail of smoke can be seen issuing from the roof-top.
The scene reminds me very much of plastic kit modelling days (Airfix signal box and coal office).
Does anyone out there know anything of the history or stories surrounding this fine signal-box on the Great Eastern line between March and Ely?
