Horwich Plastic Factory Fire
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) received a call at 12.26am on Thursday, February 27, 2014 to report the blaze on Horwich Loco Industrial Estate, off Chorley New Road.
At the height of the blaze around 40 firefighters tackled the fire with the help of aerial appliances that allowed them to put water on from above.
The fire involved a commercial building, used for manufacturing bottle tops, and a large amount of plastic.
Station Manager Wayne Guffogg said: "Firefighters worked hard to contain the fire to the building involved and stop it spreading to neighbouring businesses.
"We worked with local businesses to re-open the roads on the industrial estate and allow workers to go about their day to day business."
As of 7.15am the incident has been scaled down with around 15 firefighters in attendance.
