You never go far here without stumbling on a line of ants; miniature motorways of industry and action. These are the arteries of their empires supplying their underground catacombs with raw materials and food.

 

A biologist friend of Lorenzo's informed us that this kind of ant uses the leaves in combination with their saliva to create subterranean farms; growing mushrooms to feed the millions of foot soldiers and workers that make up an ant colony. Incredible!
