EMBRACE OPEN WATER SWIMMERS Conquer the Ocean

Coach Miguel Vadillo took a group of masters swimmers, including four Marlins, and two Burlington masters swimmers to Cancun, Mexico to compete in the famous El Cruce Open Water Races on May 27th.

These 3km and 10km ocean races, established in 2005, also represented the first Global Swim Series World Championship.

For the 3km race, 500 swimmers boarded a ferry and were taken to 3 km off shore. The race was started in two waves, men first, then women, jumping into the waves from the boat.

Our masters had outstanding swims in their first ocean race.

Thank you to Juan Carlos Medina who tirelessly supported us from minute one at his house to the end back in Guelph, his support and "chevere" way made the difference on this trip.

We are looking forward to next year!
