Purchased at isetan in Kyoto Station, and consumed on the Shinkansen back to Yokohama.

    Oh, yum! That looks delicious. I love the DOF and the tiny container of shoyu nestled beside the plastic grass, although I've never been able figure out why plastic green spikes are considered a food garnish. ;-)

    Actually, a real bamboo leaves used to be used as baran (which is what those things are called) - which have anti-microbial qualities, as it turns out - but plastic imitation bamboo leaves started to be used maybe 40 years ago or so. Some high-end restaurants and such still use real bamboo though
