Green Insect

    Prev Next

Found this little critter while gardening, never seen anything like it before and don't know what it's called. It does have a body like a locust, but the head in the locusts I remember is not as pointed and they're normally brownish on colour...

Any idea what this thing is?

I think it's name in arabic is "7erba2" and actually it's color varies according to the environment's color it lives in.if it lives between leaves then it's greenish, if in desert it's brownnish and so on.that feature helps it hide from the enemies.
      that's what I know about "7erba2"

interesting... I didn't mention thought that it DOES fly and it's wings (or underwings rather) are the most bright purple!

that's not a kind of grasshopper? Are locusts just overgrown, swarming grasshoppers? You should put this in the bug group...

This has been identified as a "Giant Green Slantface - Acrida conica" which is a cone-head giant grasshopper!
