Magnes Integrated Archive-Library-Museum Database and Collection Management System
The holdings of The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life are managed and cataloged with IDEA@ALM, a Collection Management System developed by IDEA Systems.

Initially adopted in 2008 by the Judah L. Magnes Museum, IDEA@ALM allows for an innovative integration of archives, library and museum holdings, equally available to collection management professionals and to users online.

The system constitutes the backend of a database accessible online at via dedicated archive, library and museum interfaces, as well as an integrated single search environment.

The benefits of the integration of archival, library and museum holdings holds a remarkable impact on the management of a cultural heritage collection, making collection information more streamlined, as well as on research.

Scholars working with The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life are encouraged to bridge multiple areas of content, disciplines and methodologies, fostering a notion of culture that encompasses written, visual and musical sources, texts, art, and material culture.

The implementation of the integrated archive-library-museum collection management system at The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life is one of the case studies represented in the Single Search project of OCLC.
