I before E, except after C. One of the most popular mnemonics in the English language. I used it in bars as a pickup line. Almost worked one time. English school teacher. Rarely have I seen a woman so charmed with a memory tool. We talked about grammar, diction, sentence construction. She was fond of absolute constructions while I favored run-on sentences, being a rebel of sorts. As the evening eased to an end, I asked her to continue discussing predicates and nominatives at my place. She slapped me off the bar stool, calling me a malapropists and a solecists, among other "ists" that are best avoided here. Yea, I'll never forget her, although I try. Preveiw, that was her name. Strange for an English teacher. I guess she just didn't have any use for the I before E mnemonic.
