Regeneration | by madradish

These grass trees had recently fallen victim to a controlled burn. These burns are done to reduce the fuel load and create fire breaks which help stop bushfires.

One thing that many people aren't aware of however is that the Australian bush regenerates very readily from fire. The ecosystem has developed in such a way that fire actually helps certain plants germinate! This burn zone looked very dead a few days after the fire, but it will come back to life swiftly.
