P-61 Black Widow with air- and ground crew

Newer Older

One of the nice things of building minifig scale aircraft, as opposed to my normal 1/36 scale offerings, is that it's feasible to add ground crew. They wouldn't be complete without a few vehicles: a Jeep and a CCKW tanker truck in this case.

Ninja Pilot, [Stijn Oom], McLovin1309, and 81 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Very nice! pretty much my Perfect plane from WWII, other than the Avenger. (hint hint)

He's already built the avenger, in the set "Project Intrepid".
Nice build Ralph! Good plane and love the little ground vehcoles incorporated into the setting.
Would you consider building a P47 Jug next?

[www.flickr.com/photos/hxmiesa/6153532964/I] don't know if you know of this builder or not. But I thought you would enjoy his work.

Thanks guys. I am glad you appreciate it. I decided to build this lot after I made the decision to take minifig scale planes to this years' Lego show at the STEAM museum in Swindon. I figure that having some minifig crew and vehicles with my planes will make for a much more attractive display than just the planes.

Sure. You don't need my permission...

Sluban do stuff along these lines ;-)

The P-47 is definitely a plane I'd like to build, but then again, but then again, it took me at least two-and-a-half years to finally build a P-61, so don't hold your breath! (I reread a comment on my Mosquito yesterday from that long ago in which I mention wanting to build a P-61.)

Thanks for the tip. He already is one of my contacts and you are right. I do like what he does.

    You should make a European fighter like a me-109 or a p-47

  19. Mad physicist 38 months ago | reply

The P-47 is on my wish-list, but it's as European as the P-61: not at all ;-)
I doubt I'll ever do an Me 109 on this scale. Because of its in-line engine it has such a narrow fuselage that a 1/40 scale model of it will never fit a minifig pilot.
