Sibbald Meadows Pond, Kananaskis Country
Recipe for a Perfect Sunny Summer's Day:
• two comfy chairs set up at a beautiful mountain pond,
• a good book,
• a nice little hiking trail around the pond,
• tons of dragonflies and butterflies,
• a camera,
• a video camera,
• a cooler packed with a tasty homemade picnic lunch and lots of snacks; and
• your sweetheart.
We stayed close to home this summer, but every chance we got, we went to the mountains for a picnic. My partner found us these two perfect chairs. We'd been looking for some all summer, but most were either too big for the trunk of our car or too heavy or too uncomfortable to sit in and read for a long spell. Finally, he came across these two perfect chairs: they are super comfy, they fit unobtrusively into our trunk and they're light and easy to carry into scenic spots.
Here, we've set up for the day at Sibbald Meadows Pond, a lovely little mountain pond in Kananaskis Country. It's only a 45 minute drive from our door. It's generally a very peaceful, quiet spot - sometimes there were one or two people contemplatively fishing (it's teaming with trout), but most often we were all alone out there for good chunks of time enjoying the peace and tranquility.
