That's Life for You...

I love this sign. It's the only one of its kind that I have seen in 35 years of driving 4x4 roads in the western and southwestern states. This little gem is posted at The Nature Conservancy's Muleshoe Ranch at the begining of the road to Jackson Cabin. The 14 mile road to the cabin has some serious 4x4 sections and offers loose gravel, narrow climbs and descents, and a few blind curves near cliffs. The "ride" takes 3 hours to safely and unhurredly negotiate.

No cell phone reception from way before you even reach the Muleshoe Ranch means a possible 14 mile walk if your vehicle breaks down. Jackson Cabin is the remote southern access point to jump off the map and into the wild Galiuro Wilderness via several hiking trails that connect to the wilderness' series of challenging trails. Unless the streams are flowing or recent rain has left puddles and ponds in the washes there is very little water available. Be aware.
