Fences - Thorp, WA

This is my third try at large format photography. The first couple of attempts resulted in either a boring picture that wasn't worth the effort or no picture at all due to my own impatience and ineptitude. In my photo travels online, though, I see so many large format images that impress me, I was inspired to try again. I do enjoy a challenge, and the process involved in large format photography is so drastically different than either 35mm or medium format, it feels a bit like starting over.

Last weekend I took my rig out on the road to central Washington, which is one of my favorite places. I feel as if I could take pictures there forever and never run out of inspiration. I came across this scene aimlessly driving down a county road. I didn't notice it at first, but as I came to a dead end and turned my car around, it caught my eye. I figured it would make a perfect first subject for my newest attempt at large format. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
