To Do in New Orleans - The Algiers Ferry

Take a break from JMM to take in the sites of New Orleans. The Algiers Ferry offers some of the best views of the city. Leaving from Canal Street, the ferry traverses the river's natural crescent to the city's second oldest neighborhood Algiers Point. A much quieter neighborhood than the French Quarter, Algiers has several cafes and pubs. The neighborhood also has lots of well-preserved examples of Shotgun Houses, the most popular style of house in the Southern United States from the end of the American Civil War (1861–65), through to the 1920s.

The ferry runs every day from 6 am - 12:15 am and is free for pedestrians.
