Springtime Sunset at Palouse Falls

This day ended in a quiet, no drama sunset at Palouse Falls State Park; just ever-decreasing warm colors on the horizon. (The sunset on the next day looked epic based on other people's photos, but I was off exploring some crazy steep trail looking for a unique perspective back on those plateaus in the distance. Doh!) Ah well, the top of the butte overlooking the falls was covered in these long grasses that actually ended up complementing the sunset the day I was there ... so here is my take on this classic location. :)

At this size, it may be difficult to tell, but there are actually two tiny people at the very edge of the trail from the parking lot, overlooking the falls. It's so easy not to realize there's a straight drop-off on the other side of the fence. Quite an eerie sensation when you realize the steep cliffs you had been looking at in a distance are the same just a few inches away from your own feet (with no fence). Glad there was no erosion event when I was there. ;p

This panorama is made up of three stitched images. I ended up taking a second round of exposures for the sky, so it's actually 6 images in 1. (In retrospect, to save on post-processing, I should have added a rev nd grad filter for the sky to pick up the complete exposure in the first series.)
