It has been a cold spring here in Minnesota. We are at least two weeks behind where we were last year. When one gardens, and has seedlings ready to plant, and the weather does not cooperate, you count the days, and notice every green growth. The daffodils are just now breaking ground.
Come on, Spring! Bring forth the warm weather, the green leaves, the bountiful blooms! I am ready!
(Can you see who took the photo?)
Oh, Woe - Spring Snow
A difficult thing
is snow in the Spring,
Especially after some warm days of sun.
It’s not very nice
to see snow and ice.
It looks like Spring’s lost, while Winter has won!
While nothing stops
the myriad tops
Of greening daffodils, pushing up strong,
To have to grow
while under cold snow
Must seem, to a daffodil, terribly wrong!
But we do not fear;
this happens each year.
The flowers will make it, the birds will still sing.
A few days of frost
does not mean all’s lost -
It won’t stop the rush of the oncoming Spring!
