madder plant finial

Artist: Oliver Creed

Bollards commissioned by Norwich City Council

Norwich Lanes, Norwich, Norfolk, England, UK

The bollards bright colour is the closest colour match to the madder red vegetable dye which was used in the textile industry in the area. Ten of the bollards have brass finials depicting madder leaves. Another 11 have individual finials with designs inspired by the streets and history of the Norwich Lanes area.
