I'm *sure* they're a Steve Bell design. Something about the teeth on the photographer one...

Thanks everyone for your comments, favs and views. Much appreciated.

I contacted Reception at the City Hall. By the time I got home I had an e-mail (slightly edited, see below) from the property consultants who put together the Heritage Lottery Fund bid for repairs/restoration of the parks.

In putting together the HLF bid for repairs/restoration of the parks we came across some of the original architects drawings for the Waterloo Park. On the drawings, as a centre piece at high level within the parapet area, had been indicated a piece of sculpture as the Three Wise Monkeys.

The HLF approved the scheme and after interviewing and asking artists for ideas Ms Alex Johansen was appointed.

Ideas were then developed between Alex and ourselves with the thought that a modern take on the three wise monkeys would be taken resulting in the sculpture you see on site.

I'm glad they decided to continue with the idea of the three monkeys - this modern take is very funny.
