Whitetail Buck - Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park
Those racks serve many purposes - to do battle (first and foremost), mark trees, do some back scratching, and of course a head prop!
An 8-Point typical Buck getting a little shut-eye during the 2011 rut amongst the autumn red low-bush blueberries. This guy really worked the meadow hard during the rut, getting a real good share of the breeding rights.
Not something that I've seen very often through the years (bucks napping) but this guy went to sleep around me on 3 different occasions during the rut - he was really wore down.
THANKS FOR VIEWING!
