8-Point Whitetail Buck (Typical)

This is the 500th photo for the Oh, Deer! group. We're quickly growing! I want to give a BIG thanks to all that have joined and posted in recent weeks. Please visit the group if you get a chance and join/post if you have any Deer photographs.

Definition guideline for the Cervidae (Deer) Family: include whitetail deer, mule deer, blacktail deer, elk, moose, red deer, reindeer (caribou), fallow deer, roe deer and chital.

Male deer of all species (except the Chinese water deer) and female reindeer grow and shed new antlers each year. In this they differ from permanently horned animals such as antelope; these are in the same order as deer and may bear a superficial resemblance.
