    Scrapple is a savory mush in which cornmeal and flour, often buckwheat flour, are simmered with pork scraps and trimmings, then formed into a loaf. Small scraps of meat left over from butchering, too small to be used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste, a Pennsylvania Dutch tradition.

    Scrapple is definitely a love it or hate it type thing! I was raised with it so I love it (it elicits strong childhood memories of breakfast at Grandma's house), but my husband has no such fond memories and gives it a pass. I like it fried very crispy, not mushy, with a little ketchup on the side. People also eat it with maple syrup or apple butter/sauce.

    Love how your bentos are so 'clean' and simple.
    Re the scrapple - pretty sure you broke a rule there. =) I've had it once and got my lifetime quota of pork liver in just a few bites. Bleh!!
