I've been seen your bento pics for a while and a couple questions come to my mind everytime: what is bento exactly? is the food for a kid or for you?, because it seems like not much for an adult and most important: how do you give the eggs that shape??

Miley!> Sorry, pulled the trigger too fast on sending to groups before I'd finished the notes on the photo. Descriptions are up now.

mabeliita> Bento is basically the Japanese term for a compactly packed lunch (supposed to be nutritionally balanced and colorful). I pack them for my 2.5-year-old son and myself, so his lunches generally go into a 300-400ml container and mine go into a 600-700ml container. I wrote a more detailed guide to choosing the right size bento box here. I hard boil the eggs, peel them when they're still warm, pop them into an egg mold or an ice cream sandwich mold, and then into ice water for 10 minutes until they're shaped and cool: ice cream sandwich mold tutorial here.

BlogmasterPg> Hmm, I got the idea from Giuliano Hazan's cookbook The Classic Pasta Cookbook -- it's called "Pizza di Maccheroni" and described as, "This unusual pasta dish is a specialty of the Principe restaurant in Pompei. It is meant to be eaten cold but I find it is also good warm." Maybe you can take it up with the Principe restaurant in Italy? ;-)
