Frozen grated ginger

    Newer Older

Pre-grate ginger and freeze it in plastic wrap as a long, skinny tube. Break off as much as you need for speedy lunch prep, and return the rest to the freezer. You can also freeze sliced or julienned ginger, full blog post with how-to here.

That's a great idea! I usually freeze the entire piece and grate what I need off the frozen lump. Only works with a super-sharp grater though.

Here in England they sell frozen cubes of grated ginger (together with other herbs as well) very useful and handy

framboise> Thanks! I may try that with the remains of a big bag my friend gave me -- I'm feeling lazy and I've already grated and sliced a lot of it.

fusionbento> I hadn't noticed those in the stores on my last visit -- I'll give Tesco a closer once-over next time!

Hey, Biggie - I'm freezing all my gingerroot and surplus fresh herbs now. Thanks so much for the tips!
