I'm curious how well the food stays in place when the outer blue lid is closed ... since we would carry this "briefcase style" wouldn't it be impossible to keep the food in the smaller containers without wrapping each one? What has been your experiencei n how tightly the blue lid closes over all?

It closes down enough to keep pieces of food from jumping containers, but not enough to seal in liquids (other than the one lidded container).

I used it more when I made lunches for my husband too (now he works from the house, so no need). It holds considerably more than my bento boxes, so it's good for bulky foods like sandwiches or salads. Right now it's much too big for my preschool-age son, but I could see using it more often once he grows (if he gets flack at school for carrying a bento box).
