Thanks rottnbully! My INTENTION was to go raw all at once but I did start out slipping a lot which caused a lot of guilt and frustration. I can see the benefits in starting either way though.

All at once, only if you know you're a complete badass with not caving into cravings and temptations especially if you have to live in a house that has unhealthy food and have to cook for other people. Eventually my family morphed into raw though.

Slowly/transitioning, if you know you won't be able to handle all of that. As I look back, though my intention was to go 100% raw from the get-go, my change was more of a transition and it probably would have been easier on me mentally if I let myself do a transition intentionally.

I can only speak for myself though but either way leads to the same path. And I can see now that one path would have been easier on me mentally, especially being really depressed about how I let myself go and gained so much weight. And feeling addicted to my bad eating habits. Whenever I slipped, so much guilt was there, which is freakin' psychotic if you ask me!

I do know some that say any cooked food will make them crave more cooked food so one has to weigh in that also. It seems it all depends on what type of person you are and also what type of cooked food you are allowing yourself to eat.

Now though, since I've been raw for a long while my body has gotten use to fresh food loaded with enzymes, vitamins and minerals and cooked food treats me so bad. Cooked food sits in my stomach like huge rocks and it makes me sooooooo sleepy!

You look amazing! My boyfriend and I are also raw foodist and we are just starting to teach monthly detox classes. Would it be possible for us to use this picture for one of our fliers. I don't really have a profile on flickr but you can find me at www.TonyaPatton.com if you want. Thanks! (if this is cool, you can drop me a line on my site or at: patton93@yahoo.com)

raw foods are so amazing! often when people lose weight the WRONG way, they age themselves considerably. everyone i've seen lose weight by choosing a raw lifestyle, the clock turns backwards for them. but you! you are the most drastic i've seen. now, you look like you're 18 years old (or younger)! talk about a fountain of youth!

Hi everyone, I just started being 100% raw five days ago, and I can say that it is not easy. I am still hanging though. However I understand usually the first difference people notice is ones skin, not for me. I have always have pimples and thought the raw diet would help me, instead I am having more pimples than ever. I think it could be because of the nuts and avocado I am consuming. Can someone please give info as to what other source of food I can use to get my proteine from.
      Thanks

@amy - i think you are detoxing, which is probably why your skin is going a bit crazy. i would give it a month. sometimes it takes a while. i had the same problem when i did the master cleanse and i've never had many pimples.

you get your protein from all the greens you eat via the enzymes they contain at the most base level. variety is key. think about how cattle grow so big on just grass. seaweed, kelp and other sea vegetables are very good in the protein department, as well.

I agree with everything the lovely Huro Kitty said! ;-) I also had what looked like heat rashes all over my face when I started out. It was crazy! But yeah, definitely give it some more time and make sure you are eating lots of greens.

You look like a completely different person! You are amazing! My diet is only about 50% raw. I started about 6 weeks ago. I am taking about a quart of greens, blended in my Vita Mix, a day. I have been trying to take the next step in going about 75% raw, but can't seem to be able to do it. (I have a family to cook for).

Since starting the green drinks I have gone through several healing crisis, but they get less severe each time. I noticed though that I seem to be cold all the time, like my body temperature has dropped. I am wondering if you experienced anything like that? Also I have only dropped 2 pounds, (I am 5'10" and 60 pounds overweight) but people have commented that I look like I've lost a lot of weight. I have noticed that my proportions are changing. I seem to be getting smaller in my thighs.

I was reading your comment on how some people seem to do better at sticking with it if they go 100% raw and that even a little cooked food make them crave more cooked food. I may be one of those people.

I've seen so many pictures of people which gone raw and lost a lot of weight! I feel encouraged by these. It's not that I'm fat but I'm not feeling so good with my ordinary vegan diet. I started the raw diet 2 weeks ago but I made a break and I feel HORRIBLE... My stomach is killing me. I won't give up any more on this fab diet!
