36-point Caslon Italic . . . I mean Goudy . . .
I don't know what kind of Caslon Italic this is. I've studied McGrew, but can't match it up with anything. Here are some observations:
1. The punctuation and the dots over the i and j are diamond-shaped, not round.
2. The figures are oldstyle.
3. The descenders are short.
4. The alternate Y is not same shape as most of the other Caslon alternate Ys.
5. It has the Qu ligature.
The sorts have no pin mark, two nicks, and short feet. I bought this used, so it could be a mixed font, though I doubt it since all the nicks match. Also, there could be some sorts missing.
