Kaunghmudaw Paya (Pagoda) - Ava / Amarapura - Myanmar

Update August 2012: it seem that now this Stupa does not look so white... so enjoy this 2009 shot :)

 

The stupa is a large pagoda on the northwestern outskirts of Sagaing, the capital of Sagaing Region in northern Myanmar (also known as Burma). It is an unusual shaped Burmese pagoda, being egg shaped and modeled on the Jetavanaramaya pagoda of Sri Lanka.

actually not egg shape. the really story is the women breast shape. The owner of this Pagoda is the one of the myanmar King. he wanted to build different shape of pagoda. but he couldn't think what shape he should build, suddenly he got idea and show his wife breast and they build this pagoda. this is real story of Kaungmudaw Pagoda.
