Incidents of Travel with Amy Balkin, 3 September 2015
After registering our passports and being screened (airport style) we were escorted to the Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9 (Pacific Southwest) Library on Hawthorne Street. EPA’s mission is "to protect human health and the environment" so "when Congress writes an environmental law, we implement it by writing regulations. Often, we set national standards that states and tribes enforce through their own regulations. If they fail to meet the national standards, we can help them. We also enforce our regulations, and help companies understand the requirements". Helpful librarians, rather clinical space.
