New poster parade: London Characters

‘A walk to London’ is an incredible children’s animation that was inspired by Harry Stevens’ ‘Country walks’ design from 1974.

‘The beautiful simplicity of this poster design offered us space to create a new world behind it. We got great inspiration from this interesting illustration’.

Ziqing Gao, director A walk to London

London Characters

The Museum’s latest Poster Parade display celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Underground, by bringing Underground posters to life. Second Year MA Character Animation students from Central Saint Martins worked in groups to draw inspiration from the Museum’s collection of Underground posters. They have created a series of animations which celebrate the theme of London characters. The display reflects both the diversity of approach in Underground poster design, and the variety of characters that make up London, and the Underground’s, identity.
