Gray Whale Cove SB

Here's one (or 2) from last night. I was fooling around with a failed long exposure when the color finally showed. I should have immediately abandoned my long exposure to make sure I'd have time to take advantage of the light. However, I didn't do that. I was able to get off a couple shots of the sky at peak once the long exposure finished, but I wasn't able to do it with interesting water. So, here's a 2 shot blend. One for sky and one for water. Normally I wouldn't do this when my grads easily balanced the scene, but for this sky I'll make an exception.

Yeah, too bad the water motion sucks.....NOT!!! Another stunner Lukas. You've been a real trooper lately.

Thought I commented on this one already but guess I got distracted! I just love the lines from the outgoing wave in this. It just sucks my eye in. Glad you got some nice color - I was certainly jealous that I was stuck in a car (racing home from tahoe) and not on the coast shooting. Love how the pink is just trying to escape those clouds too.

I've stopped at the top parking lot many times but never walked down to the beach. Looks like I should have. This is a fantastic shot. Just the right amount of time to give the water some action and keep the sunset in prefect focus. Nicely done. Colors are wonderful. Looks good even on Flickr's white background.

    Nicely done.
Thanks for submitting it to the California Photographer.

Love the slight lead in lines in the foreground and you've capture some pretty colors in that sky. Nice dramatic scene here.

Love this one, Lukas -- the blend was a good call here and it came out beautifully. It's interesting how you chose to include to little of the foam trails in the foreground, but I think given that epic sky, you made all the right choices to include just enough foreground to make the image feel complete. Awesome!!

Also, thanks for indirectly helping me reconsider that comment on Max's night shot ;)
