I sensed a hesitation in Scottie, the hesitation of someone who's been photographed a lot, who's used to a certain dynamic between photographer and subject, who's a bit wary of photographers they don't know.
Yeah, wariness, that's what it was. Scottie's a real live actress (not aspiring, not hopeful, but trained and accomplished and working), so it came as no surprise she'd be...not stand-off-ish, but cautious.
It happens, I've dealt with it. There's the inherent challenge, but there's also the chance to watch someone grow to trust you, even if it's just a li'll bit. The walls between us were enough, so would be the relaxing of those walls.
And I kind of got there, made some progress. Some folks are tougher than others. And I respect the hesitation, it's borne out of necessity.
Just makes me want to try that much harder.
