Back at it, first in-person shoot in...oh god, 5 months? Longest break I've had from photography in at least ten years!
But, if anything, it was easier than ever. Fred's someone I work with on film sets with, so we already had an easy rapport, it was just chatting, catching up, sharing how we felt about the world, about being black in it, about being men in it, about being surrounded by a pandemic.
There was a weight to the conversation I don't normally cultivate when I'm shooting, but it felt both necessary and cathartic. My circle of friends has contracted down to those closest to me, so it was refreshing to feel it start to expand again.
And we also took some damn good pictures, because that's. What. I. Do.
