Anne Faith Nicholls

An artist in her own right, she knew, she always knows, exactly what to give the camera. We’d tried once before, earlier that day, both knew that the first shot was less than what we wanted. There was a lot going on, it was a wedding, after all, so it was another hour or so until we were able to try again. The light was going, everyone was moving to the other part of the house, where the dance floor looked out onto the river, so when I saw she was available, we took one more, fast, very little set-up. I actually interrupted a conversation she was having to pull it off. I was looking for the classic Anne face, even though I’d just met her, long before I found out she has the uncanny ability to look completely different in every photo ever taken of her. So who knows if this is the real Anne, if it's even possible to capture real Anne. But yea gods, I do love this shot.
