Yellow-bellied Slider

Yellow-bellied slider (Trachemys scripta scripta) female out searching for a nest site. This female was about 10 in in length and moved rapidly so I only got a few quick shots.

This is a common 'pond' turtle in much of the southeastern USA. She will lay 8 - 14 eggs or so of the size seen in my photo posted of the three eggs - that turtle egg from a Red-bellied slides - closely related to this girl.

Yawkey Reserve, South Carolina.
