Atlas Life Vertical Neon North Face
North face of Atlas Life neon sign
This is the building that seeded my love for Tulsa's downtown buildings. In 1985, I made a computer delivery to a law firm in this 1922 building. This was the first time I'd really been anywhere downtown other than the Williams Center Forum. The attention to detail as I walked into it's interior amazed me. By the time I got into it's perfectly restored elevators, I was bitten. There are much more elegant buildings (think the ceiling of the Philtower lobby), but I'll always have a special fondness for the Atlas Life building. Add on the fact that it is the last to sport a vertical neon sign...how could I not love it?
