Mortician's Window Display
I was a guest lecturer at Lance Keimig's "Mono Lake Night Photography Festival" in June, it's always fun to talk to a pack of ravenous night photographers. Plus I got to shoot in Bodie at night one more time (after similar trips in '03 and '04).
Lance's co-teacher Scott Martin let me borrow his LenSkirt, which blocks reflections when you shoot through windows. It really did the job for this interior. I'm totally getting one.
This was done with the camera standing on 2 tripod legs and leaning the lens against the glass, as the 3rd "leg" and the Lenskirt suction-cupped to the window. This was in total darkness and lit with red, blue and green-gelled flashlights from extreme angles on either side of the building. Remember, the building is locked up tight, so my lighting angles were extremely limited.
