An Invitation to Share in the Decadence
I got very excited when the proprietor of the Cocoa Bar, Liat Cohen-Reeis, invited me. Her shop happens to be literally right around the corner from where I once lived on 4th Street from 1997 until the birth of our second son, Nicky, in 2001. I loved living there. So, in a strange way, I feel like it will be a homecoming of sorts.
The show runs from June 30 until July 31, 2006. I sincerely hope you will pay the shop a visit once the show opens. Cocoa Bar is located at 228 7th Avenue (between 3rd and 4th Streets) in Park Slope, Brooklyn. To get there take the F Train to the Seventh Avenue stop.
This set represents the grouping of photos I have chosen to display at the show.
This is the original set I was asked to choose from.
A special thanks goes to my son Enzo for renaming this series. Because these photos were taken in March and these folks were marching to work, I originally titled the series "Marching in NY."
However, I was not entirely happy with this, so I hastily changed it to "Shadows of our Selves" for the show.
Then Enzo comes along and says "Papa, did you say they are called 'March of the Shadows'"? I smiled, knowing there and then what the true title of series had to be.
