• I'm not sure why, but I feel that this area would be better in black. - ~Felix the Cat~
  • I originally wanted to make this all black, but sadly I don't have any black bohrok shields with the hole in the center.
  • Is this supposed to be teeth? If not cover it - ϟ Sparks ϟ
  • Yeah forgot about that, Main reason I didnt keep it filled was it ruined the rond shape. But let's just call them teeth =)

Capital letters cause trilobites are awesome.

Quick build but fun to do. Kinda having troubles with making something incorporating the trans-orange kraata so I felt I should make this. I mainly focused around the shaping, but yes those discs near the eyes are ugly. The rubber bands are just to add more white and make sure the pieces stay where I want them too.

Used GIMP to edit the photo to make it look far more better.

Based off of this.

    Alrighty, here goes.

I love the shape of it. The slight lift between the front and lower halves is kinda ugly, but what can you do? :P
Not liking the rubber bands. They mess up the colours a bit and make annoying white lines over black pieces that would look good uncovered.
The bohrok plate placement is kinda meh, and the front could use more white as well.
It's interesting, but by no means one of my favourites from you. I wanna see more colour >:D

    Thanks =)
Thanks, that was my main goal, to get as perfect shaping as possible (thank god for flex tubes :3). I tried to make the lift more organic, with that armor. Rubber bands were kinda necessary, they stabalized the shape of that head. Yeah that bohrok headplate wasn't necessary at all. The white was planned on being more like accents then a secondary color to the colorscheme. Yeah its different =P Moar color coming soon, need those parts first k?

    My thoughts exactly.

Trilobites are instant awesome. This creation is, too. The front of the animal is a little bit flat though, not very organic looking.

Thanks. Yeah from this angle it does look pretty flat, but that was so it could have the right shape. I would've liked the chain of OOO connectors to be two studs shorter, but I was reluctant to cut the flex tube they are attached to.

I can see that you have followed the silhouette of the source material. Was the goal exact recreation or inspired creation? The black/white body and color accent go well. The transition of the mid-line spine is indeed awkward as the other have noted. Remember that with invertebrate creatures that segment repetition, although boring, is the key to making it look real.

I too have been recreating fossils, but have been focusing on the primary use of Hero Factory elements. I am slowly working on completing enough creatures to create a diorama of the Cambrian ecosystem (to scale). You may have already seen just the beginning with some of my posts from BrickFair 2011.

Thanks, it was to make it more of an inspired creation, but I wanted to keep it mostly accurate. The areas where accuracy fell was the legs (which should've gotten longer after each pair) and the spine would've been better to be the same thickness as the head. Thanks. Yeah I know that, the only problem was that if I did bring up the segments, it would appear too blocky. Kinda why if the segments got wider then the last and so on, it would've been easier to make it even more accurate. Thanks again.

Yes I've seen those, very impressive, moreso with HF parts. I can't wait to see the final product! Sounds exciting.
