The Dawn of the Bosnian Pine

Although it is called Bosnian Pine in english (and other languages), the Pinus Heldreichii is indigenous in various areas of southeastern Europe and southern Italy, where it has become the symbol of the Pollino National Park. In italian, it is called Pino Loricato for its bark in scales, reminiscent of the skin of a fish (the Lorica Squamata was a type of scale armour used by ancient Roman military). It's a relic of the Ice Age (much like Scrat!).
