Blea Moor North Yorkshire 4th February 2012

The worst of the "Long Drag" is almost over as Gordon looks out for Blea Moor tunnel from LMS Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 45305 pounding up the gradient on the Cumbrian Mountain Express over the Settle & Carlisle Line to Carlisle.

The weather had started cold and snow began to fall at Hellifield with the grey clouds hiding the mountain views. Return to Carnforth & Preston was via Shap where the snow was deep and crisp & even.
