Birmingham University 13th November 1976

A new station was opened to serve the university & Queen Elizabeth Hospital after I had left but on one of my many visits I captured a Peak-hauled (45049. The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales’s) see below) train heading south through the partially built platforms. The Worcester & Birmingham canal on the right parallels the railway out to Kings Norton.

The train is no doubt on a northeast-southwest service but with no headcode to confirm it. I did not note its number but I see, for the first time, that it is named. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could hazard a guess which engine it is?
