Haworth West Yorkshire February 1969
I took this photograph of LMS 7P Royal Scot 4-6-0 46115 Scots Guardsman on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in 1969 but never printed it.
Once again those modern cars that ruined it for me over the last 40 years have become classic vehicles and as interesting, if not more, than the railway artifacts. The classic lines of a Mini and a 1966 Austin A60 van dominate the foreground.
Having said that 46115, built in 1927, is a one of only two Royal Scots left and after withdrawal from Carlisle Kingmoor in 1965 spent several years at the KWVR. Here it is in as-withdrawn British Railways condition complete with yellow diagonal cab stripe. It should be returning to steam in the not too distant future.
