Shrewsbury Shropshire 26th April 1975

    Newer Older

After taking the photos posted earlier at Rednal I hurried down to Shrewsbury hoping to get another shot of it leaving after its water stop. I only just made it in time to grab this by stopping at the roadside & sticking my camera out of the car window!!

The Mayflower railtour ran in two parts from London Euston to Chester via Hereford & Shrewsbury. The second Hereford to Chester & return was hauled by Southern Railway Merchant Navy Rebuilt Pacific 35028 Clan Line.

This is the return leg heading south out of Shrewsbury.

Not bad to say you had little time to compose the photograph.I love these going away shots.Wonderful.

Thanks FS2007. If I'd had time I probably would have been on the bridge taking a bog standard 3/4 front shot with everybody else. I actually prefer going away shots too.
